Notes:

• My Japanese is very poor. So take my translations with a grain of salt. There are a few parts I did not know how to translate, so I guessed at the meaning. Those parts are marked with an (*). Just keep in mind these are far from 100% correct or perfect. If you see a translation mistake, please let me know.

• The following should be read with manga in hand. These are only the dialogue. There are no mentions of scene changes, and very little description of action. So you may be confused if you don't have the manga in front of you.

Key:

spoken dialogue

Outline:
Civilization has collapsed at the end of the 20th century, and for several hundred years, people have been suffering from the oppression of this country's ruling tyrants. Even though Byakko village has been destroyed by the Red King, Sarasa - at the time of her older brother's death - decides to fight back. Sarasa and the Red King • Shuri, are enemies, but they met without knowing each other's identities, and fell in love.

After meeting in Okinawa, Sarasa and Shuri have become involved in the conflict between Asato and Unten, two politicians battling for power.

Shuri is going to challenge Japan, who is the one pulling the strings behind this conflict. Meanwhile, Sarasa, who is trying to protect Asato, has remained alone on Okinawa...

Sarasa:
He's the same...
...as my other enemies.
Man:
Be careful.
Sarasa:
Protecting Okinawa...
...and the President...
...will weaken the Japanese Emperor.
Sarasa:
Wind...?!
[7]
Sarasa:
?!
Man:
Kuwaah!
Sarasa:
The lights.
Voice:
Uwaah!
[8]
Voice:
Kuwaah!
Voice:
Gyaah!
Voice:
Let's split up!
Staying together is too dangero...
Kuaah!
Sarasa:
What...
Sarasa:
What's going on?!
Voices:
Hi—
Waah!
Sarasa:
I can't use my eyes!
Calm down!
Sarasa:
Just a little while ago,
...I was constantly walking in the dark.
Shinbashi:
Ku—
Sarasa:
The wind!
[10]
Sarasa:
Wait!
Sarasa:
He's going for the limestone cave!
Sarasa:
Running away huh?!
Sarasa:
There's no sound of footsteps when he draws near.
The one who attacked the President earlier...
...is him!
Bashô:
Phew.
Is it safe to go so deep inside the cave?
Priestess:
I don't know.
We've never been in here.
Bashô:
I can hear the ocean.
...huh?
Bashô:
Light...?!
Impossible...
Who can it be?
[11]
Bashô:
Who are you?
Our pursuers?!
Sarasa:
Although they're both caves, this place is different from the gateway underground tunnel. (Note: That was back in Volume 2.)
'Cause it's all wet and slippery.
[12]
Sarasa:
I really hate this.
Sarasa:
He doesn't say a word,
...and attacks so suddenly and violently.
It's just as I thought.
Whether it's the Red King, or the Blue King, or their father the Emperor.
[13]
Sarasa:
They're all the same!!
Sarasa:
Wah!
[14]
Sarasa:
I can't go on.
My footing is bad and it's tiring me out.
What should I...
Sarasa:
What...
If there's a moment...
Sarasa:
Brother.
Sarasa:
Brother.
Give me a moment's chance.
[15]
Voice:
Sarasa!
[17]
Sarasa:
Just now...
Sarasa:
This voice...
[18]
Kakujî:
Sarasa!
Are you okay?
Sarasa:
Kakujî!
Nagi!!
Bashô:
Well well. What a shocker.
The limestone cave here in Gyokusen Grotto...
...actually has an underground dock.
[19]
Eric:
This is the Great Red Hair Eric's hiding place!
Ha ha ha ha ha
Eric:
After the typhoon, we got here some way some how,
...and started fixing the ship.
It's all done.
Nagi:
Kakujî is hurt,
...so he can't move around.
Kakujî:
I'm so ashamed.
Kakujî:
Even though Nagi-sama assured me that you're safe,
...and didn't want me to worry,
How does he know?
Kakujî:
...I can't feel right until I see you again.
Nagi:
Your eyes appear to be well.
Sarasa:
Yes, Nagi.
Nagi...
Sarasa:
I want to hug him, but...
...I'm not a kid anymore.
[20]
Bashô:
You've grown a lot, Nagi.
Your hair too.
Nagi:
Yes, Master.
Long time no see.
<— Feeling somewhat shy.
Sarasa is indebted to you.
Bashô:
Speaking of which, who is she?
Sarasa:
Are you okay?
Kakujî:
More or less.
Bashô:
She doesn't seem like an ordinary person.
Nagi:
She is just an ordinary person.
However...
Nagi:
...she...
...is also the only light...
...I can see.
[21]
Bashô:
Really?
Well, if you're not worried,
...then I'm happy.
Man:
Doctor Bashô!
Bashô:
What?
Man:
Over there, we only looked away for a second, and...
Sarasa:
He escaped...!
Bashô:
What? The assassin's still alive?
He's no ordinary man.
Man:
Doctor Bashooo—
Is everybody here?!
Bashô:
Oh.
It's you. This way.
Watch your step.
Bashô:
He's been spying on Unten for us.
Bashô:
Well, anything happen?
Man:
Yes.
Main:
Unten has loaded arms onto a ship,
...and plans to leave port from Naha Harbor.
Bashô:
What?!
Is he going to start a war?!
[22]
Man:
No...
Not at all.
Man:
The crew wasn't sure about it, but it sounds like...
...he's going after the phantom ship that's been appearing near Amami.
Sarasa:
It's Shuri and them.
Sarasa:
This is bad.
The Japanese army and Unten...
...are planning to strike.
Sarasa:
Doctor, will the President be safe here?
Bashô:
Yeah.
Bashô:
We have a group of bodyguards.
And this place's like a maze.
Bashô:
Should something happen, we can always escape by sea.
Sarasa:
Well then,
...I'll leave the rest to you.
[23]
Nagi:
Sarasa.
Nagi:
The President is awake.
He seems to have something to say.
Asato:
So dark...
Bashô:
We're inside the limstone cave in Gyokusen Grotto, Mr. President.
Asato:
I... had a dream.
Asato:
Of the day I met to talk with Unten.
[24]
Asato:
We...
...made a promise.
Asato:
With water as wine in our cups...*
...on that night of cherry blossoms far away.
Asato:
From now on, we become fellow enemies.
[25]
Asato:
I will use my utmost power to reconcile peacefully with Japan.
Asato:
Though I know not how long it'll take.
Unten:
I will consult with Japan...
...to find the least damaging method of handing over Okinawa to them.
Voice:
Let's just leave it...
...at that.
Unten:
I'll do my best.
And if I have to,
...I will even assassinate you.
Asato:
That sounds like something Japan would do.
But I won't be so easy to kill.
[26]
Voice:
Friend.
This much...
Voice:
...I promise...
...upon my soul.
Unten & Asato:
This much I have decided.
I will protect my country to the death!
Asato:
From then on, we became enemies.
[27]
Asato:
Unten...
...drew the hardest lot.
Asato:
Hmm. So you should understand now.
Asato:
He's not someone who would sell his country for personal gains.
That's my opinion.
Asato:
Unten is willing to throw away his pride...
...in order to protect the pride of this country.
Asato:
In order to protect this country,
...he has become a demon.
[28]
Bashô:
Sarasa?
Sarasa:
I'm going.
Bashô:
Where to...
What're you going to do?
Sarasa:
I don't know.
Sarasa:
I'm going so I can...
...think things over.
Eric:
The shortcut exit is over there.
Sarasa:
Thanks, Mr. Eric.
Eric:
And take this for a snack.
Bananas.
Kakujî:
I want to go too...!
Nagi:
From the looks of it,
...she still hasn't realized that her own birthday has passed.
These two are so carefree.
Kakujî:
Oh. If that's the case...
[29]
Kakujî:
Yeah.
Sarasa is already 16.
Sarasa:
I'm inside the shrine.
Sarasa:
Come on.
Let me ride you a bit.
Sarasa:
Unten...
...doesn't know that Nakijin is with Shuri.
Sarasa:
Those brothers will try to kill each other.
Sarasa:
Ha—
Sarasa:
That must not happen.
Sarasa:
Brother...
Sarasa:
Brother.
Tatara:
What is a brother?
[30]
Tatara:
What is a brother?
And what does it mean to be born as one?
It means being the only one in this world whose veins flow the same blood as you.
[31]
Tatara:
Sarasa...
For your sake...
I'll run to the ends of the earth if I have to.
[32]
Unten:
All loaded up?
Prepare to set sail.

Naha Harbor

Voice:
This phantom ship is an Okinawa plot!
Voice:
Put a stop to it immediately!
If not, we'll terminate our secret agreement.
Then Japan will launch a full-scale war.
Unten:
A full-scale war.
That is the one thing I must prevent.
No matter what...!
Voice:
Set sail!
Sarasa:
Shuri...
[33]
Sarasa:
Shuri...
Please protect Nakijin...
Shuri:
During these past 2-3 days, we haven't seen any Japanese ships.
Have they changed their movements?
Shuri:
Maybe they plan to close in for a simultaneous attack.*
Shuri:
Furthermore!
Shuri:
What's with the guy I sent to find Sarasa?
Shuri:
Eeh.
He's so late!
[34]
Nakijin:
Be good enough to undress in one place!
Shuri:
Why should I?
Bug off.
Nakijin:
I can't stand your messy ways!
Shuri:
What a perfect housewife you are!
Nakijin:
Act your age!
You big disgrace!
Shuri:
Age...
Age...
Oh.
Shuri:
Damn!!
Yûna:
What?
Shuri:
My birthday...
...has passed!
Nakijin:
So what!
Yûna:
Don't scare me like that.
Shuri:
I celebrate it every year!
There'd be fireworks, ships all lined up, and parades on the streets!
[35]
Yûna:
So Shuri, how old are you now?
Since you mentioned it.
Shuri:
18.
Nakijin:
Younger than me?!
<- 19 this year
Yûna:
<- 20 this year
Shuri, you're younger than us?!
You look older than that.
Nakijin:
So, you're younger than me?
Hmph hmph.
Shuri:
What!
What's with that smug face all of a sudden?!
Nakijin:
You should respect your elders.
Shuri:
Age means nothing!
I know plenty of dumb old guys!
Lookout:
Shuri-san!
Lookout:
I see something.
Over there. What can it be?
Shuri:
Oh, that.
I figured they'd be loitering around here at this time.
Okay. Send out a signal!
[36]
Nakijin:
Whose ships?
Shuri:
They're the European...
...Allied Fleet.
Man:
Red King!
Shuri:
It's been a while,
...Sir Henry.
Shuri:
Since the Crimson Maru sunk.
(Note: That was back in manga volume 3.)

Henry:
I heard you died.
Shuri:
Yeah, something like that.
Shuri:
Well,
...your Japanese's getting pretty good.
Henry:
I picked it up in order to argue with the Samurai Kings.
But, the Japan without you is boring.
[38]
Voice:
I was just about to change my plans.
Perhaps I'll go invade Japan.
Nakijin:
Yûna. What's going on?
Yûna:
Shuri's the Red King...
Dumbfounded
Nakijin:
The Red King?
Yûna:
The Emperor's son.
He was exiled after a recent coup d'etat.
Nakijin:
A prince?
Nakijin:
Eh— This is a first.
Now I get it.
Nakijin:
That's why he always has that haughty attitude!
Shuri:
I'll resurrect myself soon,
...but I do have one request.
Henry:
What? Do you need weapons?
Shuri:
No.
Shuri:
I'm throwing a birthday party for myself.
I want you to attend.
Henry:
Hohoo.
Sounds interesting.
This should be fun.
[39]
Nakijin:
What's this birthday party?
Shuri:
It'll happen when I attack Japan!
Nakijin:
That's right. Japan!
Aren't you the Emperor's son?!
Nakijin:
Why do you side with Okinawa, and fight against Japan?
Shuri:
It doesn't matter whose son I am.
That's not important.
Shuri:
The blood flowing inside me...
...belongs only to me.
Shuri:
Before long, I will...
...reign over all Japan.
[40]
Shuri:
When that happens, I'll sign a peace treaty with Okinawa.
Then we'll be everlasting trade partners.
Yûna:
A peace treaty...
Yûna:
That'd be great.
Do you think Shuri can really pull it off?
Nakijin:
No I don't.
Yûna:
By then,
...you'll probably be a top Okinawa official.
Yûna:
Didn't you say you want to become a politician?
Nakijin:
I don't know.
I don't even understand my own brother.
[41]
Unten:
Nakijin.
Nakijin:
I don't understand.
Unten:
The ideals of this country have not changed...
...since it was called Ryûkyû long ago.
Unten:
Let the ships be our bridge to the world,
...and enrich our country...
...through trade.
Nakijin:
Why would my honorable brother,
...who loves Okinawa more than anyone,
Nakijin:
...sell Okinawa to Japan?
I just don't understand!
Voice:
Look!
Isn't that the phantom ship?!
[42]
Unten:
Alright.
Get closer, then fire the arrows.
Unten:
They are Okinawa's enemies.
Don't let their ringleader escape!!
Yûna:
Shuri.
Those are Okinawa's ships.
Shuri:
Ignore them.
Just avoid them, Yûna.
Men:
Aim—
Fire!
[43]
Men:
What?!
They're attacking.
Nakijin:
Brother...
Brother..
Yûna:
Nakijin!
Wait.
Nakijin:
Brother!!
[44]
Nakijin:
Brother!
Please stop attacking!
Nakijin:
We're all fighting to protect Okinawa!
Unten:
I told you to stay with mother.
Nakijin:
Brother...
[45]
Man:
Stop the attack.
Unten:
Who told you to stop?
Unten:
Those are traitors.
Keep firing!
Sarasa:
The ship's stopped.
What's happening?!
Men:
Position—
Shuri:
Idiot!
[46]
Yûna:
Shuri.
Men:
Shuri-san.
Yûna:
Nakijin.
Shuri:
Dumbass.
Do you get it now?
They're already in league with the Japanese army.
Shuri:
That hurts!
Yûna:
I'm the doctor's apprentice.
It won't hurt once it's bandaged up.
[47]
Nakijin:
Brother...
Nakijin:
Brother.
Brother...
Unten:
Don't stop attacking.
Use fire arrows.
Unten:
...!
Sarasa:
Nobody moves.
[48]
Unten:
You're...
...the girl from back then.
When did you get on board?
Sarasa:
I know about your talks with the President.
You don't really want to fight against Nakijin!
Sarasa:
Listen!
If you value your life,
...stop the attack!
Please turn back!
Yûna:
Shuri!
That's...
Isn't that Sarasa-chan?!
Shuri:
Sarasa?!
[49]
Shuri:
Sarasa!
What're you doing?
Stop being reckless!
Sarasa:
Shuri...
But,
But...
Sarasa:
This is nobody's fault.
Nobody's fault...
...except Japan's.
Unten:
Girl, it's already too late.
Look.
[50]
Unten:
The Japanese army...
Unten:
...has finally...
...launched an all-out attack.
[51]
Shuri:
They came, huh?!
Sarasa:
An all-out attack...!
