Places

I made these maps when I had way too much free time on my hands. I would like to think that they're somewhat helpful ^_^;

The map above depicts the four kingdoms of Japan as they are divided in the Basara story.

The red area is governed by the Red King. It is mostly a desert region. The bulk of the anime takes place in San-Yo and Kyushu (colored red), with the exception of episodes 12-13. A detail map of this area is provided below.

The blue area is governed by the Blue King, where the climax of the anime takes place. It is a watery region, with an enormous lake and frequent floods. The capital of Kanto is Seiran, formerly Tokyo. For those who have seen episode 13, you may recall the Tokyo skyscraper ruins inside the lake.

The grey area is governed by the Black King, and the white area is governed by the White King. Both are only featured in the manga.

The Emperor of Japan resides in Kyoto, which is inside the White King's territory.

The map above features the Red King's territory.

San-Yo

San-In is the village where Sarasa and Tatara were born and raised.
Do-dan is the coliseum featured in episode 2, where Sarasa used a thousand cows to recover the Holy Sword of Byakko.
Ochi-Ori is the neighboring village where the Red Army captured slave laborers to build the Emperor's new temple.
Tsuyama is the place where Sarasa tried to save the village people who were captured.
Suou is the Red King's capital, and a major port of the area.

Kyushu

Dazaifu is the governing city of Kyushu.
Beppu is a major port of the area.
Sakura Island, aka Sakura Jima, is an island/volcano where the Suzaku Village is located. It sank into the ocean a long time ago. But another eruption caused it - and Suzaku Village - to rise from the sea.
Chiran is an ancient ruin where Shido and Sarasa had their final showdown.
